Splash in the City
by Deborah Whitaker & Craig Cloutier
Half-Hour Adult Animated Dramedy

Wendall Paidoff, Rob LaSuit, and Judge MyView.

Not Me, Inc. and Fitz-In Shoe Co.
Their greed, cynicism, and lack of vision
turned Splash City into ruins.

The women of Splash City had enough.

Show Cross:

The playful wisdom of "Inside Out,"
the feminine perspectives of "Barbie,"
and the optimism of "Ted Lasso."
Logline:
In a rigid, color-drained city obsessed with conformity,
five women launch a rebellious multimedia movement to help residents break free,
regain their true colors, and begin thinking for themselves.
Synopsis:
Hierarchy, oppression, and cynicism have flattened Splash City citizens into muted, two-dimensional versions of themselves.
Self-expression is suppressed, playfulness is dismissed, and conformity is enforced. Splash City residents are divided, working as "Riders" at the "Abusement Park" or as "Climbers" scaling ladders on "The Wall."
Enter Splash in the City — a bold, female-led multimedia platform created by five women determined to bring color, dimension, and humanity back to their world.  Dancer and Fashion Designer Mzzz Pink, Psychotherapist Lisa Hearditall, Music Painter Ms. Bee Haven, Laughter Yoga teacher Miss Guided Light, and Pop Singer Danie Starbright join forces to make their “3D movement” the new fashion rage.

Using empathy, listening, creativity, humility, and intuition - the underrepresented voices of our times - the Splash in the City women are transforming their world by transforming themselves.
Based on "Playing in 3D in Splash City" Life Fable Book Series
A Playful Approach to Personal Transformation www.Playingin3D.com
Today's technology is playing in 3D. But what about us? Are we playing in 3D? Or are we living in a flat, 2D state of mind?
Episode 1 (Pilot): “The Splash Dance” 3D Theme: WONDER
The women of Splash in the City challenge the beige and gray status quo, splashing color throughout their community despite the city’s “Exuberance Ordinance” and "Fitz-In" Shoe Company's "2D glasses" fad. Mzzz Pink turns to Danie Starbright for guidance after her former beau Rob LaSuit serves her with an eviction notice, Lisa Hearditall enlightens her Splash in the City colleagues about the growing epidemic of “farcissism,” Miss Guided Light bumps into the "Sign of the Times," and Ms. Bee Haven’s pre-teen daughter Velocity becomes caught in a “mind bind.”

Re: A Television Series Dramedy: "Splash in the City"

Dear Dr. Ramini,

I am a screenwriter, retired psychotherapist, and co-creator/writer of the television series "Splash in the City"
—a half-hour adult animated dramedy currently in development, exploring personal transformation within an oppressive, narcissistic culture.

Watching many of your YouTube videos and reading your books “Don’t You Know Who I Am?” and “It’s Not You” helped me write about narcissism in one of my fables that "Splash in the City" is based on, "It's the Dance." (Mzzz Pink identifies the four dysfunctional dances of the hierarchical system that hijacked Splash City – The March, The Climb, The Tangle, and The Wrangle.)

Your books and videos also provoked an epiphany in my understanding of the leading role narcissism played in my own life story.  I don't recall which video it was, but I do remember what made me shudder in sudden realization. "Are you constantly trying to reach that person?" I'm paraphrasing but that's how it landed with me as I've lived a lifetime of just that, with too many characters to name.  It was the dance of my life.
As I write this, I feel that familiar pull of 'too much reaching'--of trying to be heard or understood. And yet, as co-creator of this project, I’m reminded that transforming our world begins with transforming ourselves.

This video (Creating Our Cartoon World: Finding Our Way to Play") shares this project's background, the importance of a playful state of mind, and my interest in projective tools. There was a great deal of 'reaching' when my partner Craig and I tried to publish our Life Fables as our books didn't fit neatly into any genre, so we self-published them.  The same was true with our recent excursion as a YouTube Channel. Our videos didn't fit neatly into any niche, and there, it was an algorithm I felt like I was trying to reach.
Finding Our Way to Play:
The 'too much reaching' feeling began to dissipate when a development producer thought highly enough of “Splash in the City” to pitch the television series to several prominent animation producers. Here, there was no reaching. We fit in, but only on the surface. That experience helped me understand that finding a producing partner aligned with our mission would mean going beyond traditional approaches.
And so, if this project resonates with you, would you be open to offering a brief endorsement?  You are in the trenches and understand the need. Your work helps people identify and recover from narcissistic abuse. "Splash in the City" is designed to dramatize that recovery--particularly the often-overlooked loss of playfulness that can follow these experiences.

I'd be honored to send you the pilot (eight episodes of Season One are written and available upon request), and mail you a copy of Book One, which includes the fable "It's the Dance."
Lisa Hearditall and Ms. Bee Haven discuss "farcissism" at The Gaslight Inn:
I appreciate all you do to raise awareness about narcissism. Your devotion is truly inspiring, and your differentiation of narcissism as a collection of behaviors and traits rather than only a personality disorder diagnosis frees us from the constraints of a decades old, ill-serving concept to encourage true healing from narcissistic abuse. It certainly freed me by providing a deeper understanding of my family relationships beyond what my background in Family Counseling offered, and for that I am especially grateful to you.

Thank you for taking the time to review this, and for all the meaningful work you do.

Warmly,
Deborah Whitaker
